We provide horses for all the Common Ridings and Festivals. These are rides of between 5 and 25 miles suitable for experienced riders only. Most towns also offer junior rides that are suitable for younger riders or those on lead-rein. Most Common Ridings rides are fast, enjoyed by young and old riders alike. There is a great sense of ‘belonging’ in riding with many other riders, following traditions of years gone-by.
We provide the horse all ready to go at the town. Most riders do wear full riding clothing but a show jacket is not compulsory. A shirt, tie or polo neck and jacket will suffice but you must be tidily dressed. Please refrain from wearing bright colours and wear a plain black hat silk.
If you want a steadyish ride – Threepwood, Lindean, Torwoodlee, Melrose, Kelso Monday, Thursday or Friday, Musselburgh Monday, Lauder Thursday, Coldstream Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
For the experienced riders – Philipbrigg, Mosspaul, Southdean, Duns or Kelso Yetholm.
